Geauga Lake To Lose Rides - Waterpark Staying

September 24, 2007 – 2:11 pm

Cedar Fair, owner of Geauga Lake, recently announced plans to turn the combination Amusement and Water Park into just a waterpark. They are going to remove all rides on the Geauga Lake side. This will end 120 years of Amusement park history at the site.

“The market demand isn’t there to support the park as it is currently structured,” said Stacy Frole, Cedar Fair’s director of investor relations. “This definitely wasn’t an easy decision.”

Cedar Fair’s planning and design team is evaluating the best use of the remaining assets at Geauga Lake.

The property will be reviewed for other uses and development, while some of the rides will be sold or transferred to other parks owned by Cedar Fair, Frole said.

Geauga Lake closed for the season last weekend. Hopefully you have tons of fond memories and
pictures to commemorate great times at Geauga Lake and hopefully the waterpark there will bring many more in the upcoming summer seasons.
