Christmas At Stan Hywet Hall, Akron Ohio

If you’re looking for a great way to get into the Holiday spirit, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron, Ohio has decked the halls with Christmas lights and decorations at their esteemed estate.

A special display, Art of the Nativity brings 40 different nativity displays to the former home of F.A. Sieberling, the founder of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and traditional Christmas decorations can be enjoyed throughout the Great Hall. The Art of the Nativity runs through December 28, 2008, so visitors that wish to see it will have to plan accordingly.

The Stan Hwyet Hall and Gardens are closed on Mondays, as well as Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

AC/DC Performing At Quicken Loans Arena

AC/DC, a band that’s been rockin’ for decades, will be performing live at the Quicken Loans Arena on January 5, 2009.

The concert kicks off at 7:30 PM and will feature AC/DC’s past and present hit songs.

All seats for the show are $91.50 each, including upper level, lower level, mid-level and floor seating.

Fall Hayrides - Mill Stream Run Chalet Area

Are you and the family looking for a little fun in the great outdoors?

Well, it’s time for fall hayrides at the Chalet area of Mill Stream Run Metropark. Hayrides are $7.00 for adults; $5.00 for kids 3-5; kids under 3 are free, but must sit on an adults lap.

The fun kicks off at 6:00 PM on Saturday nights through October. The Chalet area stays open until 10:00 PM, but the fun doesn’t end after a hayride. There’s square dancing, a hay maze, face painting and a balloon twisting clown.

Fall hayrides are also available on Sundays through October 26 from noon until 4 PM.

Refreshments are available at the Chalet’s concession stand.

The Chalet is located on Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 & 82 in Strongsville – just off I-71 & the Ohio Turnpike.

Coldplay will be performing at the Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. This concert was a re-schedule for their original July 7, 2008 show that was postponed. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the box office.

Looking for some “scare” to celebrate Halloween?

7 Floors of Hell is bringing seven kinds of heat from below! This year 7 Floors of Hell features The Butcher Shop, The Carn-evil in 3-D, The Crypt, The Cemetery, The House of Nightmares, Camp Nightmare and Scarecrow’s Revenge.

7 Floors of Hell is located at 164 Eastland Avenue in Berea, Ohio. They are open on Thursday through Sunday nights now through November 2, 2008. They’ll be open every night in the week leading up to Halloween.

Children under the age of 10 are advised to be accompanied by an adult.

2009 Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame Contenders Announced

With 2009 just around the corner, contenders for the “Class Of 2009″ at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
have been announced.

They are - in no particular order -

  • War- Best known for the single “Low Rider.”
  • Wanda Jackson- Hailed as the “Queen Of Rockabilly.”
  • Bobby Womack- One od Cleveland’s own.
  • Metallica- The original “Master Of Puppets.”
  • Little Anthony and the Imperials- A doo wop band that goes WAY back.
  • The Stooges- Lead by Iggy Pop.
  • Run DMC- They could be “The King Of Rock” after all.
  • Jeff Beck- This could be Beck’s second chance as an inductee. His work with the Yardbirds has already gained him HOF induction.
  • Chic- This 70’s disco band could “Le Freak” their way into the annals of history.

Haunted X - Ohio Haunted Reformatory Opens September 26, 2008

Halloween is just around the corner and that means ghosts, goblins and haunted houses galore in Ohio.

The Ohio Reformatory opens it’s doors for Haunted X to those that are looking for a hauntingly good time. The former prison that’s really haunted will be decked out with actors, animatronics and props to make it the scariest Haunted Prison Experience ever.

Haunted X isn’t for the weak of heart. No one under the age of 13 is ever admitted and the tours last about 45 minutes.

The Ohio Reformatory is located at 100 Reformatory Road; Mansfield, Ohio 44904.

Family Fun Fest At Patterson Farm

Now that autumn is in the air, it’s time for some good old fun on the farm!

Patterson Farm, located at 8765 Mulberry Road in Chesterland, Ohio kicks off their annual Family Fun Fest on September 13, 2008. The festival is open weekends until November 2, 2008.

Moms, dads and kids can pick their own pumpkins, apples, go on a nature hike, enjoy a hayride or try to find a needle in the haystakes. There is also a corn maze at the farm that’s sure to delight children of all ages.

The Family Fun Fest opens from 10 AM - 5 PM. The farm is open weekdays for those that wish to pick their own apples (one of my favorite things to do when I was growing up!)
