The city of Cleveland got off to a problematic start this morning.

John Goersmeyer from the City of Cleveland Division of Water reports that a 13 inch water main pipe ruptured in Downtown Cleveland overnight, flooding the areas of Superior Ave., Ontario, Superior and E. 9th. St. It’s also been reported that part of a road by Public Square has collapsed.

People headed into this area should be aware of the following road closures and detours:

Ontario Road will be closed northbound. Traffic will be re-routed to Euclid. Westbound traffic on Superior will be re-routed to Rockwell.

This is the second water main break to occur in this same area in 2008. The same thing happened in late January of this year and caused a sink hole.

What are your thoughts on Cleveland’s infrastructure? Should citizens be concerned?

Derek Anderson Staying With Cleveland Browns

February 29, 2008 – 12:37 pm

Derek Anderson has decided to stay in Cleveland and agreed to a multiyear contract, according to an anonymous source at the AP.

The source said the two parties had come to an agreement, but hadn’t signed the contracts yet.

In 2007 Derek Anderson had 29 touchdowns, 19 interceptions and 3,787 yards. He attended Oregon State, stands 6′6″ and weighs 230 pounds. He took over as quarterback for Charlie Frye who is now with the Seattle Seahawks.

Does this mean more years of benchwarming for Brady Quinn? We’ll have to wait and see..

Corey Williams Acquired By Cleveland Browns

February 29, 2008 – 8:56 am

Now that the 2007 football season has ended, the Cleveland Browns are switching the team up.

The Browns announced that they’ve acquired Corey Williams in exchange for their second round draft pick for the 2008 season. Williams played for Green Bay as a defensive tackle from 2004-2007.

In his career there, he had 118 tackles - 82 solo tackles and 36 assists. Williams is 27, 6′4″, 313 pounds and attended Arkansas State.

I found a candid video of Corey Williams at Youtube - He seems like a genuine guy that has his heart (and his mind) on football.

I think this addition to the team could be beneficial.. although they had a great season last year, the defense still needs some work.

What are your thoughts on Corey Williams? Are you happy about this decision?

Happy Sadie Hawkins Day

February 29, 2008 – 8:07 am

Not only is today a celebration of Leap Year, it’s also Sadie Hawkins Day!

What does this mean? Well, it’s the one time of the year when girls switch roles and ask boys out on a date. It’s also the inspiration for Sadie Hawkins dances all over.

If you’re a single woman, seize this opportunity to ask the man that you’ve been attracted to out on a date.. perhaps it will turn into a “Sadie Hawkins” success story.

Jury Spares Bobby Cutts Jr.’s Life

February 27, 2008 – 4:40 pm

The verdict on Bobby Cutts Jr. is in. The 6 man, 6 woman jury recommended “life in prison without parole” for his part in the death of Jessie Marie Davis’ and their unborn child’s life.

He was found guilty on seven charges connected with the crime including child endangering, abuse of a corpse, aggravated murder and burglary.

The judge hasn’t decided if the sentences will run concurrently or will have to be served separately. If it’s a concurrent sentence, the soonest Cutts would be able to walk free would be in 57 years - without parole. Cutts is 30 years old.

Although nothing makes up for the loss of Jessie and her baby girl Chloe, hopefully it will help bring closure to her friends and family.

Commentary On Obama Clinton Ohio Debate

February 27, 2008 – 7:31 am

The big CSU Democratic Presidential Debate took place last night as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama try to secure their position in the primaries.

I think that Hillary sounded a bit more emotional than she needed to and even went so far as to complain about being asked a question first. Watch her carry on below:

One thing I know is that no one likes a complainer or a whiner and Hillary’s outcries over being asked a question first are going to be the thing that sinks her in the end. If she can’t handle a simple question in “live TV” format how will she rule the country?

Answer: She won’t.

What are your thoughts on last night’s debate? Were the candidates able to help you make a decision on who to vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate?
