The city of Cleveland got off to a problematic start this morning.

John Goersmeyer from the City of Cleveland Division of Water reports that a 13 inch water main pipe ruptured in Downtown Cleveland overnight, flooding the areas of Superior Ave., Ontario, Superior and E. 9th. St. It’s also been reported that part of a road by Public Square has collapsed.

People headed into this area should be aware of the following road closures and detours:

Ontario Road will be closed northbound. Traffic will be re-routed to Euclid. Westbound traffic on Superior will be re-routed to Rockwell.

This is the second water main break to occur in this same area in 2008. The same thing happened in late January of this year and caused a sink hole.

What are your thoughts on Cleveland’s infrastructure? Should citizens be concerned?
