The game with the Ravens yesterday was astonishingly well played for the Browns. When you consider how the Browns have had so many troubles with their offensive line, rushing game, and protecting the quarterback, it’s amazing how well things went yesterday. At the end of the game, even Ravens coach Brian Billick could offer no excuses, saying: “We just got our butts beat, plain and simple.”

Ray Lewis did not put a hurting on the Browns. The Browns did not make constant mistakes. They got the lead early and held on to it. Even Steve McNair, who has always been one of the best quarterbacks in the league was not able to bring the Ravens into the game. It was the counter opposite of so many of the Browns games the average fan has been forced to sit through in the last 8 years.
Could the turning point have been reached for the Browns? I’m willing to say it has been. I don’t mean the Browns will automatically win every game they’ve been in, but at least it looks like they will play hard and not get embarrassed. That’s as much as most fans have been expecting. From that point, things can only get better.
When you look at yesterday’s game, you realize the Browns have amassed some very good players on this team. Kellen Winslow is working out as well as Butch Davis had envisioned. Lewis has created an instant running game for the team, and even certain special team and defensive players are standing out. It looks like more good things are to come from this point out.
