Jamal Lewis had his best game ever in Cleveland, and when it came time to end his career with the Baltimore Ravens, he looked to the Cleveland Browns to help revive career.

Lewis churned out a 1,327-yard season in 2002, including a then career-high 187 yards against the Browns. The next season, fully recovered, he exploded for a league-high 2,066. Five-hundred came in two games against the Browns, including the NFL single-game record of 295.
“Jamal had unique physical talent,” said Newsome. “We always felt like he was good for three explosive plays a game. Once he got past the front, he was as fast as the DBs and overpowered them. We’d see guys take angles to make sure they didn’t get there.”
The last two seasons in Baltimore saw sub-par (for Lewis) numbers, and him getting a lot of criticism for an offense that went bad. Lewis himself felt that the Ravens had given up on the running game and he expressed his desire to leave.
Lewis has been looking good in his early start in Cleveland, and he says he feels better than ever physically after getting bone spurs removed. For the long suffering fans in Cleveland, Jamal Lewis offers what the team has been needing for years: a solid running back to build their offense around.
