Health officials have issued an advisory for swimmers to stay out of the water at Edgewater Park due to high bacterial levels and contamination from overflows caused by yesterdays heavy rains that flooded Cleveland and many local suburbs.

People are advised not to have any bodily contact with the lake water. Children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to infections caused by contaminated
waters.

This advisory is in effect for at least the next 48 hours, so if you’re looking for some relief from the heat, Edgewater is not the place to go. If this advisory is extended, I will update.
