Cleveland Indians Somber After Bridge Collapse
August 3, 2007 – 8:42 amThe Cleveland Indians were in a saddened mood as they headed off to play the Twins in Minneapolis. They aren’t sure what to expect after the tragic bridge disaster that claimed the lives of at least four.
Said third baseman Casey Blake: “It’s a big blow to the city. It’s serious stuff. I would imagine the city is pretty shocked, pretty somber. I don’t know how it will affect the players or the crowds.”
Said Jake Westbrook: “I’ve been watching a little of it on TV. It’s a disaster that has taken a toll on the city. It’s going to take time for the city to adjust to it. . . . We’ll be going through it together.”
The Indians start a four game series tonight against the Twins.
