A freak thunderstorm put downtown Cleveland under water today. Needless to say, this news was a total shocker to me, since we didn’t see a drop of rain here in a western suburb.. In fact, we were enjoying the sun and had no idea that hail and rain had drowned out C-Town.

Some areas were under as much as 18 inches of water.

This caused some delays in people’s commute home. Dead Man’s Curve, the Shoreway and Marginal Roads had the most problems with severe flooding. A number of people were reported stranded in their cars at various spots in town. Power outages were also reported throughout the area.

As I report this at 7:30 PM it looks as if things are clearing up and traffic is moving freely again, but what a surprise to hear such different weather conditions than what we experienced here.

I suppose that is why they say “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes.. it will change.” and that certainly seems to be the case today!
