This morning I was checking out the news at WKYC.com and read that a high speed police chase
in Cleveland killed one and left 4 in critical condition.

According to the report, Cleveland police were attempting to pulll over a minivan that took off.

A chase ensued and the minivan crashed into a Jeep at East 105 and Chester, killing the driver of the jeep.

The good thing? Police found a weapon and an undisclosed amount of heroin in the car after the bodies got pulled. The driver of the minivan was then arrested.

I can honestly say that I think these kinds of chases shouldn’t take place at all in Cleveland or any other city. They put too many tax paying civilians at risk - Both the police and the suspect are high on adrenaline and driving skills can be greatly impaired when
there’s so much emotion behind the wheel. The police could just have easily taken the license plate number, grabbed a donut and tracked the guy down later.

Instead people had to be killed and injured.

What are your thoughts on high speed police chases? Do you think police should pursue or fall back for the safety of others?

    2. I’m sure the criminals will be accommodating and leave their heroin and weapons in the van until the police got around to tracking them down at their leisure. What if there was a rape victim, or a kidnapped child in the back of the van. How would you feel if your kid was trapped in the van and the police let the driver escape?
