It’s good to hear that more productivity is planned for Burke Lakefront Airport.
A company called Destination One is going to start offering weekday flights to Detroit, Michigan and Cincinnati Ohio. This is a public charter service that is hoping to revitalize downtown airports like Burke. They’ll also have weekend services to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Services are scheduled to begin on July 31, 2006.
One way tickets to Detroit will cost around $159.00, one way to Cinci will cost around $199.00.
This sounds like a nice option for business people or leisure travelers that would prefer to avoid long lines at Cleveland’s much larger Hopkins International Airport. I’m excited to hear how Destination One does in downtown Cleveland, it seems like a great idea for an under utilized airport. Offering some flights is a lot better than waiting for the Cleveland Grand Prix to “Roar to the Shore” once a year.
