If you were planning an afternoon frolicking in the waters of Lake Erie, you might want to reconsider your plans. Bacteria counts are extremely high and swimming might put you at risk for symptoms such as vomiting, fever, cramps and diarrhea.

The recent storms forced a number of area water treatment plants to open their bypasses, causing raw sewage and other pollutants to wash into Lake Erie’s tributaries.

Play it safe and don’t swim in the lake until this advisory is lifted.
