If your familiar with Northern Ohio, you know that you don’t have to travel thousands of miles to put an Island in your life.
Put-In-Bay is a short drive to the west of Cleveland and is just getting into the swing of things for the 2006 summer season.
Put-In-Bay, or South Bass Island is the home to the Commodore Perry Monument. This was erected to honor Commodore Oliver Perry, who was prolific in the War of 1812. The monument is open for tourists, and a visit to the top gives visitors a birdseyes view of the Lake Erie Islands.
You can enjoy local wines, live music, bike rentals, jet ski rentals, and fishing.
Ferry service runs daily from Catawba Island via the Miller Ferry, which accomodates for bike and car transporatation to Put-In-Bay.
The Jet Express also provides Ferry Service to the Island. This ferry gets you to Put-In-Bay in 22 minutes from downtown Port Clinton. The Jet Express serves as a passenger service only.
So if you’re looking for a way to put an Island in your life without a trip through Customs, Put-In-Bay is worth the trip.
