Visit to the Flats

I admit it.. it’s been an awfully long time since Darren and I have visited the Flats.
The last time we were down there, we celebrated a friends birthday. It was dark, warm and everything was open. Music lofted through the air and the atmosphere was, well.. like a party.
Before I moved to Cleveland, my friends and I would visit here and the Flats was always a destination, even if only for a couple of hours. It didn’t matter what time of the day we visited, there were always people out and about on both the East and West Flats. Not on this day. There wasn’t a soul walking the streets and everything was closed.
I know that there are a number of projects in the works for both the East and West Flats, hopefully they’ll be getting done sometime soon because “The Flats” looked like a literal ghost town. From what I could tell, there was only one establishment open… barely.

A picture of the desolation that has become the “Flats”
To make things worse, the town of Cleveland is in Orange Barrel season, making access to Downtown Cleveland even more difficult. Both Euclid and Prospect Avenue have been reduced to 1 lane.
Who is trying to to kill Cleveland? I’m starting to wonder..
