Bally’s is Horrible.

April 7, 2006 – 2:51 pm

We made the mistake of signing a contract at Bally’s back in 2003, and I’m happy that this is coming to an end.

The other day we got a notice in the mail from Ballys saying that my husband’s account was past due in the amount of 118.00, and that his card has been de-activated and HE wouldn’t be able to use his gym membership, but I still was “welcome” to use mine.
This will be about the 5th time I’ve had to call their “customer line” to try and iron out how exactly their billing/contract works. Both Darren and I are on the same contract, but for some reason we have 2 separate accounts, with 2 different billing methods. It has never made any sense to me…and I guess I never will..

But back to the phone call. The less than helpful Bally’s rep told me it wasn’t
118.00, it was only 4.00 and she’d waive the “reinstatement fee” of $50.00, and something about renewing Darren’s account for another 6 months or some crap. I told her not to bother.

According to her, both of our accounts are now cancelled, but somehow I doubt it. I cancelled the credit card that they are auto drawing for one of our memberships.

I think their ploy is to confuse people with “financing” deals that go horribly wrong. I personally think that they are not worth the money.

I’m happy that spring is here, so we can ride our bikes for exercise..

Maybe we’ll think about joining another gym that has a month to month plan later.. Any recommendations?
