Bad news for us Clevelanders that use I- 480, I- 77 and I-271.
If it isn’t winter, it’s the season for orange barrels and neverending roadwork.
The Interstate 480 work will include a new I-77 bridge deck over I-480 and the yearlong closing of two ramps where the highways intersect.
The closed ramps are from I-480 eastbound to I-77 north, and I-77 southbound to I-480 west. The recommended detour is Ohio 176, also known as the Jennings Freeway.
In addition, repaving of I-480 from the east end of the Valley View Bridge to I-271 is to begin around mid-April and wrap up this fall.
The I-77 bridge work and repaving of I-480 from Brooklyn Heights to the Valley View Bridge should begin this summer.
That section of I-480 is set to be done in late in 2008, while the bridge replacement should be finished by summer 2007. Traffic will be maintained on I-77 during the bridge work.
Looks like I see a traffic jam up ahead, so be prepared with patience and a strong will to get to work on time…
