What kind of people take joy out of destroying things that aren’t protected?
In one of my previous entries, I wrote about a visit to a local cemetery. It was a gorgeous afternoon. The sun was out, the skies were blue and it was warm outside.
I rode my bike, and took my camera because there is a tree there that I think is awesome and I wanted to take some pictures. I wanted to have a look around and wonder about the people that lived and died here. There are mothers, fathers, children, soldiers, and families that are resting for all of eternity. Some stones were so old, you could no longer read the words that were inscribed, but at some point in time the pain and sorrow was real to someone. It meant something.
This past weekend, someone or a group of people couldn’t leave well enough alone, and ruined about 100 of these headstones by knocking them over, or kicking them or whatever. It makes me sad. I drove by yesterday and the cemetery is now cordoned off with Yellow Police tape, and you can see some of the damage done from the street. Will they ever get fixed or replaced? Do any of the people even have anyone left to remember them 100 years later?
I hope that they will find the people that did this horrible thing, or at least the ghosts of these people haunt them for forever for the damages they have done..
