Cheesecake Factory - Crocker Park - Westlake, Ohio

March 14, 2009 – 8:44 am

Last night we decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory at Crocker Park in Westlake, Ohio. There was a short wait to be seated at around 5 PM on this Friday night.

I’ve always been a fan of the place - they make great cheesecake after all - and it’s been a while since we’ve ate there, even after they added a location to the west side.

It hasn’t been so long that I forgot that their portion sizes are huge, though.

We decided to order a couple of appetizers - stuffed mushrooms and deep fried artichoke hearts. It was a hard call since they offer all sorts of tasty appetizers like Quesadillas, Hot Spinach and Cheese Dip and Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes, just to name a few.

We had ice tea to drink and split a Caesar Salad for dinner. The salad was so big that we both had our fill of it and there were still leftovers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they use an entire head of lettuce for this rabbit feast!

After the appetizers and salad, we each ordered a slice of cheesecake to go. Our bill came to under $45.00, not including a tip.

Everything was spot on delicious.

If you’re looking for variety, the Cheesecake Factory has a vast menu offering classics like Shepard’s Pie, Pizza, Pasta, Chicken, Chops, Steak, Burgers, Sandwiches, Soup, Salad, Breakfast items and even has a Sunday Brunch. Like many other big box restaurants in the area, they offer Curbside To-Go Service for carry out.

The Cheesecake Factory is located at 148 Crocker Park Boulevard, Westlake, OH 44145. Their hours are:
Monday - Thursday 11:30 AM - 11:00 PM
Friday - Saturday 11:30 AM - 12:30 AM
Sunday 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM

Cinemark Theater - Valley View, Ohio

March 14, 2009 – 7:58 am

One of the best theaters to enjoy a film at, in my opinion, is Cinemark in Valley View.

Cinemark has 24 theaters so the place is huge. It’s not unheard of for top films to be running on four screens, so the chances that you’ll arrive at a “sold out” show are unlikely.. unless of course, it’s REALLY popular. They have the capability to play 3D films and often have screenings of orchestras and other special interest films.

One of my favorite things about Cinemark is the seats. This comes as no real surprise since their slogan is “the best seats in the house.” Not only do the arm rests move up for more space, the seats are like rocker/recliners, so they are just plain comfortable.

Refreshments are of normal theater fare - popcorn, nachos, pop and candy. Also inside the Cinemark 24 is concession stand that sells items like pizza and other foods and a game arcade, in the event that you have to wait to see your movie.

The Cinemark 24 is located at 6001 Canal Road, Valley View, OH 44125.

Saint Patrick’s Day Parade - Cleveland, Ohio 2009

March 12, 2009 – 7:57 am

With Saint Patrick’s Day just around the corner, now is the time to start planning for the Greenest Day of the Year.

This is the 142nd year the Irish Parade has closed the streets of downtown Cleveland for a bit of revelry.

The parade kicks off at 1:04 PM at the Superior Ave. and East 18th St. intersection and travels southwest on Superior Ave. to East Roadway for a block and then heads northeast on Rockwell Ave. It ends at the intersection of Rockwell Ave. and East 6th St.

Since Cleveland weather is always unpredictable and the cold hasn’t seemed to have “snapped” quite yet, don’t leave the house without your hat and gloves and arrive early!

Many downtown restaurants and bars will be open to serve fare and of course, green beer.

If you’re unable to attend, the parade will be videocast live on TWC’s Northeast Ohio Network N.E.O.N. (Ch. 23 -Cleveland
Ch. 22 - Avon and Mentor) beginning at 1:00 PM.
